Glenrothes Baptist Church meet in a modern building. Usually
we are meeting the challenge posed by older building, but this
venue offered some interesting restrictions to overcome.
The layout of the sanctuary meant that a single screen and
projector was the best solution, and there was an obvious central
position for it. The problem was that the rear wall has fabric
stretched across it, which means that it is impossible to put
normal wall fixings in. To get round this, we fixed an alloy
bar between two beams, and hung the screen from that. This put
the screen in optimum position, without damaging the fabric.
The church also requested a radio control for the screen. This
means that the screen can be operated from any point in the
church, and since the remote works on radio frequencies, it
does not need to be aimed anywhere.
The church now have a 3500 lumen projector, which is powerful
enough to overcome the background light in the room. Luckily,
the church had a beam in just the right position so mounting
was fairly straightforward. A Unicol Gyrolock mount was used
to keep the projector stable in the precise position required.
The projector has lens shift and keystone correction which means
that it can fill the screen despite being quite a bit above
it.
The whole system was installed in one day, with a subsequent
visit to add data points to the pulpit and communion table.
We also supplied a portable projector at the same time, for
the church to use in their halls and elsewhere.
